UnTabled

October 13, 2022 @ 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm CDT

Free – $100.00

Southern Word’s annual UnTabled event brings together Nashville’s established and emerging business leaders, entrepreneurs, executives, and change makers for an evening where they can connect with each other and learn about ways to support the placement of mentors inside classrooms, libraries, and community organizations. It is an opportunity to engage with Southern Word’s unique community in conversation around topics that effect young people, the education field, and the business community.

This year’s event will feature “Remixing Community Through Pictures and Poetry,” a new framing for DEI conversations in the workplace. This is a special sampling of a workshop made possible through Metro Arts and National Endowment for the Arts that Southern Word is currently piloting with several organizations spanning government, medical, and corporate sectors.

Led by Southern Word mentor Shawn Whitsell and interdisciplinary artist Andrés Bustamante, participants will draw, write, create, listen, and share stories. This workshop provides an opportunity for participants from different backgrounds to connect; highlights key aspects of DEI conversations; and features a meditative visual arts session that provides an alternative processing and healing experience.
