The Southern Word Experience

Southern Word is updating its annual business event by hosting a lunchtime gathering at Acme Feed & Seed. The Southern Word Experience, formerly UnTabled, will remain a place where Nashville businesses come together to engage with Southern Word’s unique community in conversations around topics that affect young people, the education field, and the workplace. We will share successes of our DEI workplace program “Remixing Community Through Pictures and Poetry” which provides a new opportunity for team building and crucial workplace conversations. Attendees will still have the chance to engage with, learn about, and uplift Southern Word’s efforts placing writer and music mentors in classrooms, libraries, and community organizations.

This year’s lunch will be punctuated by a poetry slam where representatives from event partners will step onto the Acme Feed & Seed stage to build community, create connections through the sharing of their thoughts, and possibly be named slam champion of the Nashville area business universe. Participation in the poetry slam is encouraged, but it is not essential for taking part in the afternoon’s activities.
