Music Production Master Class

The Music Production Master Class is for teens interested in learning how to make beats and produce music tracks. Participants may also schedule 30 minute recording sessions Tuesday through Friday. These workshops are open to producers of all levels as well as songwriters, singers, rappers, and anyone interested in producing their own music. Complete the producer certification program to be cleared to run your own recording sessions. This will be a hybrid program streamed from Studio NPL. You can attend in person at Studio NPL on the third floor of the Nashville Public Library or virtually. For teens in grades 9-12. This workshop series is a partnership between Southern Word and the Nashville Public Library’s Studio NPL.
This session will be led by Louric Oshay. Louric is a DMV-native music creator, educator, & entrepreneur, based in Nashville, TN. Oshay has been featured as an Audio Engineer with the Creatives Day Fall 2019 cohort residency at the Writer’s Room Studios at the Hutton Hotel in Nashville, TN. Oshay is the founder of Oshay Music Group, LLC., a music production & edutainment company focused on amplifying client success and elevating the glocal culture & community of Hip-Hop. Oshay is a state of TN licensed Career & Technical Education teacher and has taught Audio Production at Pearl-Cohn Entertainment Magnet high School in Nashville, TN from 2012 until 2019, where he was a 2-time Starr Award recipient. As of Fall 2020 Oshay is an Adjunct Professor at Belmont university teaching “Hip-Hop Production Techniques”. When he is not teaching, grading, or preparing for class he is engineering recording sesions as the day time engineer at Tha Underground Recording Studio and consistent freelancer at The Record Shop Recording Studio. Oshay has been featured on News Channel 5 and in ABC Nashville’s press release for the Periscope 2019 cohort. He has competed in several beat battles and producer showcases, such as Dynamic Producer’s Beat Royale, iStandard’s Beat Camp, and Nashville Beat Battle. Oshay was awarded a Metro Thrive Grant in 2020 by Metro Arts to host a series of virtual Beats & Bars workshops. He can be heard on all music streaming platforms as 1 of the co-hosts of Faders Up podcast. Oshay considers producers Lee “Tubbs” Jerkins, Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins, and Timbaland as producer influences and indie artists committed to a career in the music industry are his target audience. Oshay considers his contemporaries to be creatives that also utilize their skill set to inform and educate others in their field, such as Busy Works Beats and grammy award winning engineer Dave Pensado. Oshay utilizes the “I Do, We Do, You Do” instructional model when hosting Beats & Bars workshops.
