Memphis Teen Grand Slam

The region’s top youth poets, emcees, and spoken word artists compete for their personal growth, a more powerful young writer community, top lyrical honors, the opportunity to appear at the Tennessee Slam Finals, and a chance to participate in the national teen slam in San Francisco this July.

Southern Word creates a platform for youth to speak about the real hopes and challenges of their lives. Discretion is advised for this event as some material may be unsuitable for young children.
