A Celebration of Writing with Shawn Whitsell & NSA

Join Shawn and the writers from Nashville School of the Arts as they share their writing. A Q&A session with the author will follow the readings.

Shawn Whitsell has vast experience working at the forefront of social justice issues in Nashville from founding the Destiny Theatre Experience, which provides a safe space for all stories and storytellers, to Civil Rights marches, to teaching with School of Alternative Learning and Transformation (SALT) at Riverbend Maximum Security Institution. He also serves as a Compassion Prison Project ambassador, co-chairs NOAH’s Criminal Justice Task Force, and serves on Metro Nashville’s Community Oversight Board. He is a graduate of the Nashville Peace and Justice Leadership Institute, 2020 Nashville New Leaders Council, and Nashville Police Department’s 12-week citizen’s Police Academy Training.
