2019 Friendraiser

Join us for the 2019 Friendraiser.

Whether standing with confidence at the front of their class for the first time or are receiving a standing ovation from hundreds of community leaders, youth are transformed through the process of developing, writing, and telling their stories. These stories create a community of empathy and understanding as audiences find common histories, new connections, and different perspectives.

The evening will feature performances from youth poets, a DJ, complimentary hors d’oeuvres and drinks, and an engaging overview of Southern Word’s impact on Tennessee students. While the event is free, at the end of the program, we will be asking guests to invest in the future of Southern Word.
